Well worth a visit to the Mamod workshop in Smethwick

My Granddad has a Mamod stationary engine, which had been my Uncle's back in the 1970s. Granddad and I restored it and had it running about 20 years ago. Recently I started looking at moving engines and decided to buy a new one straight from Mamod. I asked to collect it in person as I live close and hoped to have a look around the workshop - I'm a mechanical engineer.

Tom at Mamod showed me around the workshop where I saw parts being machined and models being assembled. I saw numerous models at different stages of being built which was great to see. He also showed me a collection of historic models, many of which were the first of a particular model range, which was very interesting. Finally I got to collect my own Centurion traction engine.

I am a big fan of Mamod engines and highly recommend visiting the workshop if you buy one. Thank you Tom and the staff at Mamod.
